This Pre-Production/Storyboarding Workshop will guide participants through the essential steps of preparing for a film production, highlighting the importance of thorough planning to ensure success. Attendees will learn about script development, building a pre-production team, budgeting, location scouting, and how to create effective shot lists and storyboards. The workshop will emphasize the role of organization and teamwork in turning a creative vision into a well-structured production, offering practical tips and tools along the way.
In this Pre-Production/Storyboarding Workshop, participants can expect to learn:
1. How to develop a solid script and use it as the foundation for the entire production.
2. Building a pre-production team and understanding the roles of key crew members.
3. Creating effective budgets and shot lists to keep the project organized and on track.
4. Location scouting and securing permissions for filming locations.
5. Storyboarding techniques to visually plan scenes and communicate with the team.
6. Organizing a shooting schedule and navigating logistical challenges with cast and crew availability.
This Workshop will be instructed by both David Watson & Brittney Greer:
David Watson is an award-winning cinematographer and editor. He is the Director of Photography on the feature films: Vincent's Vow, Eldritch USA, Happy Halloween, Aging Predators, and Finding Joy. As well as several short films and proof of concept projects including, A Look in the Mirror, Finding Joy, Emily, Happy Halloween, The Mirror, Dancer, The Cure, Banned, Melody and Murder, and The Pictures which he also wrote and directed. He’s also edited several short films and was the editor on the feature film Happy Halloween. He got his start as a photographer in 2015 and quickly moved to filming over 50 weddings and then into narrative and commercial filmmaking. When he's not behind the camera he enjoys spending time with his family and is a passionate Arkansas Razorback fan.
Brittney Greer is an independent filmmaker and graduate from MSU, and has been working in production for over 15 years. Greer's an award-winning Writer and Director. Her work spans from web series including Drifter Broken Road seasons 1-3, Stage Fright, Barker Hole, and Strange Happenings, short films including South of Swan Creek, and Pushing Envelopes. She's worked on features including Eldritch USA, Aging Predators, and The Flying Greek Documentary. The latest feature film, Happy Halloween, was written, directed, co-produced, and had makeup fx done by Greer. She has also worked on more proof of concept videos and short films as well. Greer just loves being on set whether it's helping move lights around, playing in fake blood, or directing. When she's not on set she loves spending time with her family and her dog, Harley Quinn. She loves to draw and is an avid horror film fan.
